This week in Y6
Another week has flown by! This week we have welcomed Miss Rowley from MMU to our class, she will be working with Y6 for most of this term. This week she has been getting to know us all and finding out about our school.
We began our week by following up our adventure to PGL, we have written recounts, shared our experiences with our Reception buddies and had a look at the photographs. This will all be put together as a display within our classroom.
In numeracy we have been looking at decimal numbers, their place value, ordering them and multiplying. We thoroughly enjoyed an outdoor maths lesson on Wednesday measuring our bean bag throws and standing long jump distances in metres (to create decimals) and then ordering the results.
Literacy, we have been writing recounts and then have moved onto story writing, using the short film Eye of the Storm as a stimulus. We have compared the film to our class story and begun to look at character. You can follow the link to the short film here.
Harvest has been a focus this week, thank you for your contributions for the Trussell Trust Food Bank.
We have continued with our music, comparing Livin' on a Prayer to Queen's We will Rock You, playing rhythm and pulse games, and continuing to learn the song.
Monday we did French with Mrs Cador.
We have had a go at more coding, learning about icons and events and making things move. Our results can be seen here.
Our fundraisers organised a successful day on Wednesday, raising money for CRY — more details of how much was raised will follow.
And finally on Thursday we enjoyed Kenya day and took part in a P4C session with Y5.
