St. George's Day

Home » News » St. George's Day

Our school was a sea of knights, princesses, dragons, St. George flags and red and white on Friday in celebration of St. George's day.
In class, we shared the story of St. George to remind us to have the courage to stand up for our own values, like George stood up to the dragon. We found out that St. George was actually born in Turkey and never came to England. His parents were Christian and he became a Roman soldier. He was imprisoned for standing up for Christians.
In preparing our children for life in modern Britain, we linked celebration of St. Georges' day to the FOUR BRITISH VALUES of Democracy, Rule of Law, Freedom (liberty) and Respect for other faiths and cultures.
