Happy New Year, year one! This is not the way we wanted to start our new year but everyone has...
St. Georges' Day - Stand up 4 values
As part of our work in preparing our children for life in modern Britain, we linked celebration of St. Georges' day to the FOUR BRITISH VALUES of Democracy, Rule of Law, Freedom (liberty) and Respect for other faiths and cultures.
In worship, we used the story of St. George to remind us to have the courage to stand up for our own values, like George stood up to the dragon. One of our boys dressed up as a princess and one of our girls dressed as a knight which was a good way to show that we are free to be unique, share our own point of view and be part of our community. We talked about laws being the rules and codes we live by that should help us to live safely and happily together. Although we are a Church school, we are a school for our community and you are free to choose your own beliefs. We are here as a school to help you shape your own lives and make a positive contribution in your own way.
