So...what a couple of weeks! This weeks news is last weeks and this weeks combined after technical...
Spiders, Spiders Everywhere!
Our excitement for Minibeasts continues! We have been learning about Spiders this week and different stories have helped us to explore the world of Spiders in more detail. In one of the stories, the Spider has written us a diary to explain that he is not an insect and he releases silk from his body. We found out that a spider uses spinnerets to do this so to find out more we zoomed in on one of our spiders to identify where they were. We have made spider webs and used the poem Spiderlings to help us describe spider webs...
What left this sea of silver
That shines and shakes,
As if the breeze was ruffling the surface of a lake?
It's simply spider silk — a million tiny strings,
The silken parachutes of baby spiderlings.
Our number brains have been counting in the garden with our counting sticks and we have been trying very hard to count forwards and backwards. One of our challenges this week has been counting with a loud and quiet voice to help us count in twos. The water tray has been a popular activity this week as the children try to work out how much water would push Incy the spider down the spout! This has required lots of team work, measuring and problem solving.
In PE our bodies transformed into different tunnels where minibeasts could travel. We are definitely perfecting our fluttering, sliding and crawling skills!
Today PC Nick came in to talk to us about Sun Safety and Water Safety. We have thought about how we can stay safe in the sun when we are at school. Staying safe has also been a focus when we have researched on the internet for different minibeast facts using Espresso and Kid Rex.
See you on Monday Spiderlings!
