Science Week - Preschool

Home » News » Science Week - Preschool

What a truly wonderful week of exploring we have had!

The children have been exploring the answer's to 'What happens when colours mix?' and 'How do plants drink water?'

During the week the children have had the opportunity to find out the answer through various activities.

What fantastic scientists we have.

We explored what happens to colours when they mix in a variety of ways, mixing paints in clear bags, using pipets we dripped paint on paper towels and watched as it absorbed, we painted with shaving foam and created pictures, using coffee filters we drew on them using felt tips then dipped in water, and lots more independent learning to discover. "It's changing colour" observed Esme, "it's made green" said Hugh " The colours change" noticed Imogen "it's mixing together" Annabel observed. The children have learnt that when we mix colours together they change into different colours.

To find out how plants drink water, Harry said "he didn't know how" we experimented with white flowers and celery. We put them into cups full of coloured water and have been watching what happens. "It sucks up the stem" Alex said. Ethan said "they drink it" We noticed today that some of the petals had begun to change colour Solomon said "it was because it goes all the way up the"

It has been lovely to see the children so engrossed in their learning this week and I hope they have been telling you all about what they have been discovering? Please let us know if they have.

See you for Stay and Play next week, have a lovely weekend.
