Safety Week: Water Safety

Home » News » Safety Week: Water safety

In reception this week we have looked at water safety as part of safety week, so we know to how stay safe around our school pond, as we care for our class tadpoles. Whilst our pond is not very deep and we could stand up in it, it has plants that could tangle around our feet and unbalance us. So, we know to position ourselves a safe distance from the edge so we can see but not too close we could topple in.

As we are approaching the end of term and many of us will be going away for a holiday with our families, we discussed how to stay safe around pools, rivers and beaches too.

Here are some of our tips for you:

Always follow the pool rules displayed by the side of a swimming pool.

Make sure you have an adult to watch you.

Swim at a safe depth.

Use a float or armbands if you are not a confident swimmer.

Do not swim in ponds, rivers or lakes without an adults permission.

Do not swim alone at the beach.

Always wear a life jacket if you are on a boat.

Enjoy your well earned summer break and remember to be safe around water.
