What shall we do when we go to the seaside? (x3)
On a sunny morning.

Well it certainly was a sunny afternoon for us at Clonter as we sang about Barney Bear's seaside adventure! After a lovely picnic on the grass with some of our families joining us we performed beautifully, showcasing our musical talents. Thank you to all those joining us as our audience, we hoped you enjoyed it as much as we did. As was mentioned on the coach on the way home after seeing a train, a digger, a crane and a cement mixing lorry: "This has been the best day ever". Indeed!

In order to prepare for our adventure today we have been very creative in the classroom this week, making our seaside themed crab hats and musical shakers. They looked fabulous!

In our literacy led learning this week we have looked at seaside holidays past and present, comparing the differences and similarities. We observed some very unusual practices from Victorian times where bathers would be taken to the water in what looked like a shed on wheels to preserve their modesty!
This led us to discuss some of the activities we like to do when we go to the seaside and so we wrote these down on our seaside themed writing paper.

In our number work we have played seaside I spy, where we have counted up the different numbers of seaside objects or landmarks as a tally and then wrote our numbers. This was trickier than it looked as there were a lot of different objects on the picture and we had to make sure we didn't count things twice. Some of us developed different strategies like circling objects in different colours to help.

We have also looked at different sea creatures that live in our oceans and seas and identified different distinctive features which we then used in a game of 'Who am I?' Maybe you can play this game at home?

in PE we have continued to practice our tennis skills and hopefully we will be ready for Wimbledon.

Each year we are invited to join the reading challenge by Nantwich Library and so Hilary joined us this week to tell us all this years. We have taken our special bookmarks home to begin and
hopefully we should have some super medals to show for our efforts in September. Happy reading everyone!

Have a lovely weekend and I will see you all Monday.
