What comes next ? The letter is an A !
This week we have gone pattern mad in Reception.
We began our week with sharing all the different patterns we found around our homes and gardens over the weekend. Who knew patterns were everywhere ?
In class we began to explore how patterns are made and repeated. Using all sorts of resources we have created some fantastic patterns across the week, including sound and body patterns too.
In preparation for our welcome service in church next week, we have met up with our year 6 buddies to prepare for our different roles in the service and practice our beautiful singing. There may be a few happy tears, remember to bring your hankies!
This week in PE with Mrs Swan, we have warmed our muscles up and had fun looking at different ways of moving a ball with control and in music we began with the question "Do all birds live in trees?" using our bird song we found that some birds live on the ground, such as ducks and emus.
In Technology we have begun to master programming robots, using commands to move the Bluebot forwards, backwards, left and right. This was very exciting and hopefully by next week we will be able to program all the commands in first rather than one at a time.
We have continued to enjoy our love of reading this week and have found as many opportunities as possible to find a quiet space to read a book. Long may this continue.
In literacy we have revisited all the sounds we have learnt so far this term and practiced reading and writing them in words.
It has been such a long term and so many wonderful learning opportunities have been experienced by all the children. It was so lovely to hear such positive comments about learning behaviours at parents evening and how they are influencing learning at home. Keep up the great work Reception, we have one exciting week left til half term.
Have a lovely weekend
