Reception weekly news
This week we have continued our theme of dinosaurs and have enjoyed our wonderful dinosaur costumes in our role play area. There have been some very realistic T.Rex and Stegosauruses roaming the classroom!
In literacy we have been labeling parts of the dinosaurs and discussing why they may have certain features. We then wrote sentences about their features using describing words and tried to join some of our sentences with the word and.
We have continued to explore standard and non standard measurements this week, using a dinosaurs foot print and our own foot print. We have measured objects around the room and recorded our findings. Extending our learning, we used unifix cubes to measure objects and compared the measurements with our footprints and began to think why we might use standard measurements to measure things.
In music with Mrs Swan we have begun to learn "If you ever meet a dinosaur" focusing on rhythm and dynamics in readiness for a short performance at the end of term. It sounds very exciting so far!
Our dinosaur theme has even become part of snack time this week as we all enjoyed some delicious dinosaur biscuits. Thank you to the boys that made them at home for us, we do love home made goodies!
Have a lovely weekend
kind regards
Mrs Taylor
