We look forward to welcoming you all back to Spring 2 half term tomorrow — Monday 22nd February. ...
Reception weekly news
News, news, read all about it!
This week has been a hive of activity in reception as we have prepared to share the story of 'The Nativity' and the good news of Jesus through the angel's perspective. Rehearsals are going well as we continue to practice songs, learn actions and recall our words whilst remembering to use our big voices for an audience to hear.
We have also created part of our costumes by making 30 pairs of angel wings too, Father Christmas would have been proud of our little workshop this week!
In number work we have continued to work on number bonds to 10 using angel wings, identifying the correct numeral to add to the first wing so the wings added up to 10. We are getting quicker at our recall of number partners reception, well done!
For literacy we have our shared our character descriptions of family members from our home school link and compared our descriptions to our Gruffalo description from last week. We identified all the describing words we used and added them to our topic word bank.
Following on from our Andy Goldsworthy art we have created pieces of environmental art using objects found in our forest school site during this week's forest school session. We also used some of our natural resources to create woodland shelters for our stick man considering different features and which materials would be best to use.
In preparation for our very special visitor of Father Christmas today, we have been writing him letters in our independent learning time. How lovely to see so many of you thinking about your siblings and writing letters for them too, you are very thoughtful children. Thank you to those who wrote my letter as well, I hope you managed to spell cordless vacuum cleaner for me, I'm feeling very hopeful this year reception!
Have a restful weekend as we have a very busy week next week reception!
