Welcome Back Reception.

Meet Zogg! This story has been the focus for lots of learning this week. Zogg the alien came down to earth with a 'bump, bump, bumpity bump!' We began thinking about the places that he would like to visit and we went into our school grounds to create an adventure stick. This was our plan for Zogg's adventure on planet earth. We did a wonderful job to use WOW words to describe these places; a snowy mountain, a sparkly ocean are a few examples of the way we have been adding new words into our sentences. Today we wrote our ideas into a story and I can't wait to read them.

In Numeracy we have explored the topic of measuring by estimating and measuring aliens, spaceships and pictures of planet earth. We then investigated length by putting socks in order of length. Zogg's friend Zooky came and told us that she always hung her socks on the washing line in order. We thought about what that meant and then did some more problem solving of our own.

We have found out about our new topic 'The World Around Us' by sharing different maps from home and talking about the places we have visited. In the Meet Zogg story a little boy creates a map to show Zogg where he lives. This inspired us to create our own maps and it was great to see the connections you made to show where you live, our school and the places you like to play.

On Wednesday we took part in our Sports Day field events in the hall. We thought about 'being the best that we can be' before we began, and everyone did a fantastic job. We were all shining and trying our best as we took part in speed bounce, shuttle runs and long jump events. All the adults were very proud of the team approach and encouragement you gave to each other. We have also been busy preparing for our Sports Day on Monday. We hope the sun shines over the weekend so we can welcome all the Mums and Dads to the field for 9.30am.

See you on Monday.
