Reception, we have had a fantastic week of number that finished today with our NSPCC number day. This week's focus has been problem solving, doubling and halving. We particularly like our game "What's my double?"

We have learnt some new songs that help with our learning: ' The big number song' and 'The double song.' We have found that by the end of the week we were singing them without realising
it !

In our Literacy learning we have been designing our own dinosaurs and writing about their features, what they like to eat and giving them a dinosaur name. What a great job we have done on using our phonics for sounding out words, well done.

Our sponsored silence went very well too! We broke the time into pockets of ten minutes and practiced our quiet yoga positions or worked quietly during our learning jobs. Thank you for your kind donations for both our events this week.

This week we have also led a whole school worship, explaining Candlemas and Jesus being recognised as the light of the world when he was presented at the temple 40 days after his birth. I think everyone liked how we slowly switched on our candles so the light spread across the hall. How impressive was our singing! Mrs Chesters came to listen when she heard it from her office. 'Beautiful, absolutely beautiful! ' she thought. Well done Reception, I am so proud of you.

Enjoy our Festival of lights disco tonight and have a lovely weekend
Mrs Taylor
