Well we finally finished the igloo and have the pictures as proof. I heard the weather girl say that there had been unusually high winds — we can vouch for that as one particularly strong gust nearly blew us away and managed to take a side off the igloo again! We used this as a learning point though and discussed how next time we tried something like this we could use a frame to attach it to, or build it inside.

Once the cartons were all down we had great fun making cars, boats and all sorts of other things from some of them. The rest were then squashed for the recycling.

In Phonics we have been looking at reading and writing words with two consonants together and also looking at other ways of writing some sounds that we already know.

In Literacy we wrote about what makes us special and then used this as a basis for our class worship today. The children were brilliant — they sat beautifully and spoke clearly when needed.

In Numeracy we have been timing ourselves using sand timers and stopwatches. We have been experiencing what a minute feels like and learnt the new words; second, minute and hour.
