What an energetic week we have had. Our Sports Day on Tuesday was great fun and we all enjoyed ourselves. Well done to everyone and especially the Yellow team who were Key Stage 1 overall winners. We also enjoyed supporting the older members of our house teams on Wednesday afternoon, well done to the Blue team winners.

In Phonics this week we have learnt the last Phase 3 sound er, and have been continuing to practice reading and writing words with adjacent consonants (like scrunch). We will be doing a recap next week to see if there are any sounds that we need to practice some more.

In Literacy we have been thinking about houses. Zogg's house was made from a car, we decided this was good because he could move it around, but not very good because there wouldn't be any water. We then had a look at the different types of houses that people live in around the world and were amazed at the variety. Today we thought about what we would like a house made of, there were lots of chocolate houses!!

In Mathematics, we have been pretending to be robots and SatNavs — the SatNavs giving the robots directions to move across a grid and using words like forwards, left, right and turn. We have enjoyed using the floor robots — Beebot and Roamer. We have also been looking at 3D shapes using their proper names and learning to say sphere. We have tried to use mathematical words to describe the shapes and found things in the classroom which are the same shape.

We have been so busy that igloo construction has gone slowly this week, we hope to do more next week.
