We have had an action packed week in Reception. The excitement grew when we received a video message...

'I need your help, can you set up a Santa's workshop in your garden and help design all the toys you have asked for on your lists. Merry Christmas to you all. Father Christmas'
We were very excited to receive this video message on our big screen. The Workshop was opened, and it has been very busy ever since.

In our writing time we have been writing our own Nativity story books. We have written sentences and words from the story we now know so well. In Numeracy we have been ordering numbers in our Santa's workshop, talking about time and finding one more and one less.

We worked as a class to find out where Father Christmas delivers all the presents. We looked on Google Earth to see where he travels from, where the North Pole is, and how far he has to travel with his Reindeer.

Miss O'Neil has been working with the children to create a Snowman fruit kebab. This lovely activity helped us to think about making healthy food choices.

We have also been thinking about reading in more detail this week. We have thought about Father Christmas who will be busy reading all of our lists. We talked about what reading is and created a great picture of Henry the main character in the Oliver Jeffers book, The Incredible Book Eating Boy. Next week we will be thinking of our favourite books as presents — which one would you bring in?

Thank you for all your hard work this week. There has been lots of new steps in learning, and today you have all really impressed the adults with your independent approach to forming the letter k. I can't wait to see you showcase this in your red books at the weekend.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Mrs Pointon
