So...what a couple of weeks! This weeks news is last weeks and this weeks combined after technical...
Reception News
A very special parcel arrived for us on Tuesday. Inside we found larvae, pots, food, a spoon and a paintbrush. We are now very proud to be looking after our own baby caterpillars and we are all very excited to make observations. 'Look Mrs Pointon my caterpillar has grown!' Our next job is to get the butterfly net ready and to see the life cycle develop.
This week we have been finding out more about spiders. Are you scared of Spiders? We collected information to find out the answer, and in Reception the overall response was no, most children and adults are not scared. Phew! We made silky webs, found some spidery rhyming word patterns and enjoyed responding to the story the Very Busy Spider by Eric Carle. Eric Carle has also featured within our story time this week. We have got to know a lot of his stories and I think the mixed up Chameleon is one of our favourites.
In PE we were asked to challenge ourselves so that our bodies could move in different ways to be like minibeasts. Over the course of the lesson I was so proud to see how Reception were tackling a physical challenge.
Our activity time has been very inventive this week. We have been collecting a range of objects to build boats and the paper craft table has all sorts of super creations. Our ideas are turning into longer projects now, which is great to see.
Today we have sent a letter with information on our forthcoming visit to the Quinta Nature Reserve. We found out where we are going and thought about all the minibeasts that we would like to see there. I think we should start counting down...17 more sleeps!
What a lovely sunny day, have a great weekend.
