Reception news
Reception, didn't we all look fabulous today in our finery to celebrate the royal wedding?
We had great fun as we explored what happens in a church wedding and some of the customs and traditions that people do and say at weddings. There were some great designs for wedding dresses and merchandise and yummy ideas for wedding menus too.
Our wedding feast was enjoyed by all, especially the cucumber sandwiches and jelly pudding.
What a lovely way to end a week of achievements and celebrations.
In our learning this week we have been counting in 2's and recognising the pattern of numbers as we do so. This helped us to count up to big numbers on our hundred square. We are becoming great mathematicians!
In literacy we have completed our caterpillar diaries and are very excited that our very own caterpillars have finally arrived in class so we can watch them grow and transform into butterflies.
As Pentecost approaches this weekend we explored: What is the Holy Spirit?
And so in RE we discovered how the disciples encountered wind and fire as they received the Holy Spirit as they were praying in a room together. We explored the many things in life that need wind to work, like boat sails and windmills and decided that the wind was a powerful element.
In a moment of still and quiet we stood on the field with our arms outstretched to see if we could feel the wind on our fingers and in our hair and imagined what it must have felt like to be a disciple in the room when the wind came. We had a glorious moment as we tested out our wind catchers and windmills and the wind kindly obliged with some gently gusts.
Back in class we reflected on our school values which are the Fruits of the Spirit and how we best use them. We have created some beautiful artwork for our classroom to reflect the wind and fire as the Holy Spirit.
Have a wonderful weekend
kindest regards
Mrs Taylor
