Wow what a busy but fantastic final week we have had before our Easter holidays. I am so proud of...
Reception news
What an exciting week we have had!
In our learning this week we continued our theme of minibeasts and attempted to write acrostic poems using alliteration and rhyme.
Here's one of our favourites written by Clementine:
Bees buzzing
Everywhere
Enjoying the
Sunshine without a care!
In number work we have been counting on, using a number line when adding two numbers together. Once we had confidently mastered this we started to add bigger two digit numbers together and used the hundred square to help us. Again, once we had mastered this we started to solve number sum puzzles, working out the missing number from the sum when we had been given one number and the answer. We are definitely becoming confident mathematicians in reception!
We have begun to prepare for our summer sports in athletics club, by trying out some track events. We can run a very competitive relay race, 50m hurdles and a 100m sprint. I can't wait for sports day!
And to finish our wonderful week off we were very lucky to have a visitor today to teach us how to program with apps and robots. Using the iPad we used an app to program and control Ozobot robots, using colours and patterns to change their behaviours and complete challenges.
Sphero was very popular, again we used the iPads to control the floor ball-style robots outside, using the touch screen to make them accelerate or knock down skittles.
We also learnt basic coding concepts with Robot turtles, seeing who could get their turtle to the center to land on their matching gemstone. My favourite!
Have a great bank holiday weekend
