Reception Class News

Well done reception class, we have all made it to half term!

A huge thank you to you and your parents for another fantastic week of home learning.
In your phonics work, you have continued to consolidate your set 2 sound knowledge in the speedy sounds sessions each morning and I have been super impressed with how you have continued to challenge yourselves by writing sentences using the words containing the lessons sounds. This is a fantastic skill, not just doing sounds and words in isolation but contextualising them and showing that you are able to recall those sounds and words independently in your writing. You need to give yourselves a '1 2 3 ... well done me' pat on the back!

In mathematics this week you have explored what is meant by doubling and have recognised and represented doubles in a range of contexts. Thank you for sharing your double song singing and making dominoes to show doubles. I was so inspire I went to find my old set of dominoes to have a game!

Over the week, you have chosen activities from the learning project which have interested you so it has been fantastic to see weather report video clips and weather charts from the week. I think Owain Wyn Evans from North West Tonight has some strong competition from you budding weather reporters! Some of you have chosen to be scientists this week and made rain clouds or tested the melting rate of ice in different conditions. Wow, wow, wow, these were all fabulous and have made me a super proud teacher with your enthusiasm for learning and how you have articulated and demonstrated your new found knowledge.

Please take the time over the half term break to recharge your batteries and spend time together as a family, hopefully in the garden if the weather is kind to us. There will be no work set for this week.
I look forward to the coming weeks where we may be reunited as a class family when it is safe to do so. Miss Alex and I miss you so much, so thank you for all the lovely messages on 'Thank a teacher day' (very misty eyes that day!)
