Planting - Preschool

Home » News » Planting - Preschool

Preschool has been busy planting this week.

The Tractors and Teddies have been busy planting sunflowers into plant pots and wellies, they have been looking after them remembering to water them. Alex observed that some of our sunflowers are beginning to 'shoot'

Rainbows have planted cress into their own decorated pots. They wet cotton wool and placed it in their pot they then sprinkled cress seed onto the cotton wool. "They need light now to help them grow" said Hannah. We are monitoring our cress each day and Eve observed that the cress was beginning to grow.

We also decided to do an experiment.... We plated cress in pots. We gave one pot no water and no light, another pot water but no light and a third pot light but no water. We will observe what has happened to our seeds next week.

Butterflies have focused on how plants drink the water. They knew they drank it through the roots. They planted sweet peas in a glass tub and hopefully soon the will be able to observe the roots growing.

Kimmy did an experiment with celery. The children filled a glass with food colouring and placed the celery into the glass. They quicky observed the colour 'moved' up the celery this helped show how roots drink the water.

What busy scientists we have at preschool!
