Our Week - Preschool
What a strange week of weather we had last, one day we were exploring the snow and ice and the next wearing sun cream and our sun hats. Weather is a perfect way to explore the world around us ask questions. The children have been learning about how to stay safe as the weather becomes warmer. I heard William. B shout "oh the sun has popped his head, we must get out hats" Lets hope we get much warmer weather soon.
We have continued our learning based around the topic Jack and the Beanstalk. We have continued to explore measuring. Children drew around their footprints, cut them out and then searched the preschool environment for objects taller and shorter than their footprint. There was no tricking some children. I asked if they could find an object the same as there footprint, laughing William. K pointed to his other foot, "They are both the same" he said.
During phonics Rainbows are focusing on the sounds s,a,t,p,i,n. The focus has been hearing the initial sounds in words. We played a game where children had to select an object from a bag and say what sound it began with. Please practice this at home too. Those children familiar with their letter sounds have been using their phonetic knowledge to sound out words to write parts of our story and write the words the giant says. I have been impressed with their work.
Butterflies and Teddies have been focusing on activities that require them to listen Kimmy told me how wonderful her group were. I think perhaps your listening ears helped! ;)
A polite reminder that it is our key person coffee morning this Wednesday 3rd May, 9-11.00.
Hope to see you there,
Tara
