Our week in Year 6

Home » News » Our week in Year 6

Last week flew by!
We started the week with Mrs Jenkins on Monday, she looked at verbs with us, continued with decimals and in the afternoon continued with our science work on classification.
Across the week we have finished our big art — we love how the shiny sections of New Mungo reflect the light and are amazed all the pieces fitted together to make the city!
We have been looking at climate zones, what they are and what climate is. Thank you to those children who have brought in news articles about extreme weather or climate change — remember there is 20 housepoints on offer if you bring on in!
Maths we have continued with decimals and looked at word problems containing decimals. She have added the fractions, decimals, percentages equivalents to our display.
In literacy we have been continuing our writing based on Journey by Aaron Becker. We have been thinking about starting sentences with powerful verbs or adjectives, adding questions to engage with the reader. We have also learnt the words antonym, synonym and determiner in readiness for the SPAG part of the KS2 assessments.
We thoroughly enjoyed the Fruits of the Spirit workshop on Thursday — thanks Mrs Taylor! Thank you also to Tommy, Lucas, Jack, Orlanda and Katie for supporting the younger children, you were fantastic!
We have sorted out our homework routine, a copy of the grid can be found on our class page. Remember MyMaths homework has been set! Congratulations goes to Owen this week for being the only Year 6 to get all his spelling correct! Well done!

A busy week! Hope you have all had a lovely weekend.
