Our week in Year 4

Home » News » Our week in Year 4

Wow what a week!

This week in English, we have completed our report on the mythical griffins and I must say, they are fab.

In maths this week, we have focused on time. I am proud to say that the majority of year 4 can now read time and solve problems. We even went on a clue hunt around the school solving time problems.

In the afternoons, we have created a fantastic 3D model of the Hogwarts grounds. We made our hills out of playdough and used red string to show the contour lines (shape) of the hills. Also, we created our very own key symbols for the map, so when you look at it from a birds eye point of view, you can clearly see what the different features are. It is still work in progress.

Also in the afternoons, we have learnt about the environmental changes and man made changes to animal's habitats. We researched extinct animals and the reasons why they have become extinct, we then presented our finding to the class.

On Wednesday we celebrated InterFaith week with a visit from a real yogi! We learnt about how important it is to listen to each other and respect each other, we also learnt about how important it is to listen to yourself as well, being aware of our thoughts and feelings is just as important. We also learnt a range of different positions- ask us about 'The Turtle', this was my favourite!

In spellings this week we have focused on homophones. However, next week we will be focusing on our statutory spellings. We will be tested on these half term spellings next Wednesday, along with our weekly times tables and S.P.a.G due to our theme day being on Thursday.

Thank you very much for all of your Star Lab consent slips. Miss Lake is hoping to receive enough reply slips for this event to go ahead.

Next Thursday is our Harry Potter theme day. We will we be learning to play Quidditch in the afternoon, so please ensure that all children bring in their P.E for the occasion, it is going to be amazing.

Hope you have a great weekend preparing your Harry Potter costumes and I will see you on Monday for a magical week

Miss Rushton
