Our week in Year 2

Home » News » Untitled article

Another week has flown by in Year 2! At the end of last week we enjoyed a computing lesson with a computer expert Miss Marsdon who came in to teach us how to use the app Puppet Pals and we created our own Fantastic Mr Fox stories on the app. The children listened well and worked collaboratively in pairs. Well done Year 2. This week we carried on our computing lessons this time using the laptops and with Miss McCurrie. We learnt all about PowerPoint and how we could make our own presentation all about farms. We learnt how to open and save work, creat new slides, add text, animations and add pictures from Google. I am really proud of what we have achieved so far. We are hoping to invite parents in to watch when we are finished!

In maths, we have continued our unit on place value and we have learned how to partition two digit numbers into tens and ones using different practical tools, like a numicon and dienes. We have also introduced our 'Secret Maths Challenge Box' for when we have finished our maths learning and we want a challenge. You have to unlock the box and quickly get out a challenge! This has been exciting for us and we have all been working hard to finish our work so we can open the challenge box!

In our English lessons, we have been fact finding all about foxes! We went on a hunt around school as Miss McCurrie had lost all the facts around school and then we shared them with the class. Once we had organised our facts we used the microphone to tell the class what we had learnt. Children, can you tell your parents any new facts you have found out about foxes this week?

We were also excited to count our class Friendship Pebbles yesterday. We can have Friendship Pebbles for helping our friends with their learning, looking after them if they are hurt, praising friends if they have done well, to name a few. Our challenge was to collect 30 friendship pebbles by the end of this week and when we counted them we had 39! What a kind and friendly class we are.

Have a lovely weekend.

Miss McCurrie
