Our Week in Year 2

Home » News » Our Week in Year 2

Everything on earth has its own time ... has been the theme within worship this week. Year 2 did a beautiful job of leading our house worship. It was great to see how you shared the theme to the whole school. We have written some wonderful prayers which will become part of daily prayers; it was also a good time to think about our friends at Kaiyaba Primary School.

Our worship theme also relates to our Numeracy focus this week — telling the time! We have recapped our understanding to tell the time on a clock face by going outside to the clock painted on the playground. Numicon has now been added around our class clock and we are using it to begin to read the digital time for quarter hours. Today we have made special clocks for a study work task.

Charlotte Middleton joined us on Thursday and we enjoyed asking Charlotte questions, I think we may have even given Charlotte a few ideas for her next book about Beavers! It was a lovely opportunity to talk about how Charlotte gets her ideas. I am looking forward to celebrating World Book Day again next week. How are you getting on with your Non Fiction Reading Challenge?

It was great to see so many colours on the Mardi Gras celebration day. You all did a wonderful job creating masks and we went outside to see everyone in a parade.

We have been considering how Leon and the Place Between links to our painting in art this week. We can now tell you lots more about the painting and the name of the artist — William Turner. There is a great website to explore Turners paintings in more detail. Please click here.

Our reading corner has been changed into a Turner art gallery and now we have sketches of our own that can be displayed in the gallery. We used a variety of pictures of boats and ships to inspire us to create a detailed drawing.

In RE we have been using everyday clues to tell the first part of Holy week. Our talk and discussion has helped us to write sentences.

I hope you are enjoying completing your learning log activities. As they are new to us in year 2 please come and speak to me if you have any queries. Thank you if you have already handed in your books, we have enjoyed finding out where your favourite place is.
