Our week in Year 2

Home » News » Our week in Year 2

This week we have been thinking about ways to capture a dragon! Our ideas have helped us to look at explanation writing in more detail. Instructions can start to sound similar to explanations so we have tried to work out the main differences and use this to help enhance our explanation writing. Today we read a book called The Great Dragon Rescue. We enjoyed reading this as a class and it helped us to gather some exciting ideas to capture the dragon. In the story a fledgling dragon was trapped in a large bird cage! We have begun to plan our explanation into five parts and next week we will write our explanations.

In Numeracy we have been exploring measure activities. We have used containers to look at capacity and weights to measure how heavy different objects are.

I have jumped into the Science World this week to talk about Science investigations. We have been working like real Scientists observing movements outside and we have worked in groups to complete a ramp fair test. We found out that the cars travel the furthest when the ramp is higher.

We have also joined with Year 1 and Reception to begin a practise for our Lenten Service next week. We look forward to seeing you on Thursday afternoon.

Well done to a team of Year 2 girls who have been working hard to raise money for Kaiyaba. You should be really proud of yourselves.
