Our Learning this Week - Year 1
I think Year 1 should make their own prayer book! This week we have introduced saying our own prayers at lunchtime and at the end of the day. We have all really enjoyed sharing the special heart felt moments. 'Dear God, Thank you for making our world. Amen' Our Harvest worship was another moment to celebrate this week. Thank you to everyone who joined us on Tuesday, it was lovely to see so many smiles in the audience.
In RE this we talked about what it means for someone to believe in us. We played a trust game, and then went on to write our Year 1 good news headlines. Our responses were lovely to read. 'Be kind, very kind.' 'We are hard workers.' We also remembered how important Jesus' stories are.
In Literacy we have explored ideas linked to our favourite toys. Our independent writing has been lovely to see, especially in our Author Books. This week we enjoyed writing about fairies, witches, dinosaurs and Paw Patrol. Today we started to get to know the Naughty Bus story. In teams we wrote a big shopping list of the things we need to make a scene from the story. We are going to have lots of fun on Monday getting all the scenes ready.
Our Numeracy learning has been focused on finding one less. We have worked out the answers by looking at 100 squares, taking passengers off a bus and by doing number sentences on a calculator. We are enjoying finding our answers in our heads too.
What is Pop Art? We have also begun to find out about the work of the artist Andy Warhol. We looked at some of his famous art work and used bright colours to recreate our own piece. We also found out that he was sometimes called 'Raggedy Andy.'
Have a super weekend.
Mrs Pointon.
