Our learning this week at preschool

Home » News » Our learning this week at preschool

We have had yet another wonderful week at preschool. Thank you for sharing your favourite nursery rhymes and books. This has helped us to develop our literacy skills. We have sung our favourite rhymes and focused on hearing rhyme in words. We have been listening to lots of stories and talked about the different characters and retold stories. We looked at how we handle books carefully, which way to hold round and how we turn one page at a time as we read.

In our mathematics we explored counting an arrangement of objects and ordered numbers through out nursery rhymes. We counted eight legs for Incy Wincy spider, put ten bears in a bed and ordered the five little ducks.

We have used our imaginations this week too and have focused on building stories around available toys and props. I heard "the panda is eating bamboo cos he's hungry and that's what he eats". It was lovely to observe the children sharing their different ideas together and working as a group to engage in their imaginative play.

To develop our physical skills we have continued to develop our use of a knife and fork and the rainbows have focused on pencil grip during their letter formation group time.

And if that wasn't enough learning we have used paint to mix colours and paint a picture!

I think we definitely need a rest!

Remember to check tapestry for this weeks phonics home-link and I will see all you little pumpkins next week.
