Our half term comes to an end in Y5

Home » News » Our half term comes to an end in Y5

A busy half term comes to an end, great work this term year 5.

In Maths we have investigated common factors and multiples and used this knowledge to mentally calculate multiplication and division problems.

In English this week, we have used our mind maps to develop our information texts and edited to improve them. We are now ready to publish this work in our study books.

During book club this week we have continued to read different information texts on Ancient Greece.

This week we have continued to focus our spelling lessons on homophones. We have also created strategies to remember our statutory spellings and used them in our test today.

Is Christianity practised all over the World? A question we asked ourselves in RE this week. We looked at the migration of a swallow to introduce the idea of travel. Our task was to use a religion map to identify the countries where Christianity is practised. We were amazed to see how many countries there were.

We have continued our French lessons this week, run by Mr Smith from Shavington High School. Our focus was on food and drink.

We thoroughly enjoyed our educational visit to Manchester Museum this week. From creating a mysterious myth to acting with freeze frames and drama. We finished our day with a Greek trading game. Our Y5 children were beautifully behaved and a pleasure to be with.

PE this week focused on cricket and our swimmers enjoyed their lesson. They will need pyjamas for the first lesson back after half term.

Have a fantastic half term and a well-earned break. Stay safe.

Mrs B
