Our first week in Year 1
What a busy and brilliant first week we have had back in school! We have done so much this week and managed to do it in 4 days too, so a very well done.
Our week started when we were introduced to our new classroom. We completed a classroom hunt to find lots of new things in our environment. It was lovely to see children confidently exploring their new surroundings so quickly.
In our English work this week we have been helping the Naughty Bus learn all about our class and have written some things about ourselves in our new (and very snazzy) English books. We have also discussed some classroom rules to help the Naughty Bus stop being so naughty, everyone suggested great rules ("We must always listen to the teacher" was my personal favourite) and we will definitely try to use them in our classroom.
In our maths work we looked at numbers. Unfortunately, the Naughty Bus had messed up our 100 square, but thankfully, our clever team of Year 1 mathematicians were at hand to help him put back the numbers in the right order!
The biggest problem that the Naughty Bus caused this week however, involved our clock on the wall, or not as was the case. The Naughty Bus had decided to knock it off! Naughty bus said in a letter to our class "Your clock is boring, I want to it look more like the one where I live". So that is exactly what we did, we rolled our sleeves up and created our very own Big Ben clock. We also found out that Big Ben is actually the name of the bell inside the clock tower.
We have all had a fantastic very first week in Year 1. I am very proud of everybody and look forward to what next week brings!
