Nursery Rhyme Week - Preschool

Home » News » Nursery Rhyme Week - Preschool

'Nursery rhymes play an important role in early childhood by helping children master key skills such as language and communication and social, physical and emotional skills.'

This week at preschool we have joined in with National Nursery week. Each day we have learnt a new nursery rhyme;

Monday — Doctor Foster
Tuesday — Baa, Baa, Black Sheep
Wednesday — Two Little Dickie Birds
Thursday — Incy Wincy Spider
Friday — Hey Diddle Diddle.

The children have enjoyed activities each day linked to the nursery rhyme. During large group times we have used our new cd player to play rhymes, action songs and enjoyed dancing using ribbons and streamers.

We have looked at different musical instruments exploring the different sounds they make by tapping, shaking, banging etc.

Keep sharing nursery rhymes at home, I read recently 'that if a child can fluently recite 8 nursery rhymes by the age of 5 they will be amongst the best readers and spellers!'

Have a wonderful weekend,
Tara
