I hope you all had a great half term holiday. It has been nice to have you back this week and great to see you collect lots of learning stickers. We are nearly running out of stickers as so many have been given out! We have welcomed Alissia to our class. Thank you to everyone for making her feel welcome. We have been lucky to have not one, but two mystery readers this week and this has to be one of my favourite parts of the week. I think there is a slot free next week if you would like to read to the class one day next week.

Our Shape Song Swing Along song has inspired us to create shapes in lots of different ways this week. We have been investigating shapes in the sand tray and using playing doh. Our drawing and cutting skills have improved too. We are using vocabulary like corners and sides to describe the flat shapes we have used. We have had fun making real shape sandwiches too. I hope you had as much fun tasting your sandwiches as you did making them.

This week we have continued to be explorers in and out of our classroom. We're going on a Bear Hunt has been creeping into our role play ideas to make pathways in our garden, news broadcasts and 'whirling, swirling snowstorms' in the discovery tray.

Our Kiva afternoon was a wonderful afternoon where we all worked together, firstly in a big group to sing a song and then in smaller groups (2s or 3s) to draw and paint pictures together. We found out how it feels to help one another and work together.

In PE this week we were busy creating movements linked to 'We're going on a bear hunt.' It has been great to see you think of different ways to travel with confidence. We have been travelling under, over and through.

Next week we are getting ready for Remembrance Day and we have started to mention the C word — Christmas, so we will start to let you know about our plans for our Christmas Nativity soon!

Have a lovely warm weekend away from the wet weather.

Miss Silvester
