'The only lights were in the lanterns that the Little Somethings carried up to the Stargazing Stones.' We have really enjoyed creating paper lanterns this week. We begun by creating a practise one, then we watched a video and decided the best way to create our second lantern. We were very independent to decide if we needed to draw lines as a guide to cut. The 'fringing' cutting technique has featured in lots of our child initiated play this week too. The lanterns are now hanging on the entrance to our cave. We have also been writing a list of things we need to make a paper lantern and sentences about what we can see.

Our focus on measures has continued to look at measuring using different objects. We have enjoyed measuring caterpillars, snakes and worms.

During our Kiva afternoon we talked about feelings linked to the story 'I am not your friend.' We looked at emotion photos and thought about when we feel happy, delighted, fed up, worried, sad, tired and upset.

We had a lovely afternoon learning about kindness, self control, forgiveness and being gentle. We rotated around 4 different activities during our Fruits of the Spirit afternoon. It was very exciting to take part, thank you to Mrs Taylor for organising this experience.

A photo a day to capture play has begun this week. We are enjoying being photographers and our themes so far have been to capture 'colourful,' 'build' and 'read.' Every time we take a photo we display it on our classroom display.

A special request — if you have any glass jars we would like to begin collecting a class set to make lanterns. If you have any please bring them into school next week. I will mention to the children next week to ask at home too.
