News from Reception

Home » News » A wonderful week

If you had the opportunity to live in your Dream Home, what would it be? In Reception we have come up with lots of ideas; a football house, a tree house, a bat cave and a hot air balloon to name a few. In class we constructed a camper van and jumped inside to travel to lots of different places.

We have all enjoyed singing a shape song this week. 'Line, line, circle, circle, square, square, square, square, triangle, triangle.' To develop our understanding we have made shapes with our bodies and with our big counting sticks. Our flat shapes have also formed pictures of houses, rockets and butterflies. We have extended our thinking to decide which shape is the odd one out? This has enabled us to develop our shape language too.

'A line is a dot that went for a walk.' Paul Klee has been a focus for our learning. We have learnt that he was given a box of chalks by his grandmother and started to draw and paint at an early age. To develop our work in the style of Paul Klee we have taken dots for 'a walk.' We have also been inspired to draw pictures in old books that were even older than Paul Klee! I am looking forward to the results develop next week.

Our first Mystery Reader came with a lovely book this week. This together with our new reading group time means there has been lots of reading taking place in Reception.

Thank you to our Year 6 buddies who have helped us to prepare for our Welcome Worship in a few weeks. We enjoyed spending time with you on Thursday.

See you all on Monday. Ginger will be waiting for you!
