National Science Week

Home » News » National Science Week

Dear parents and children,

Next week is National Science Week.

Parents:
Each class will take part in science activities which may link to study work topics or may stand alone. All activities will be practical and allow children to work collaboratively, engage in discussion, ask and answer questions, predict, design and make, observe, record and evaluate. Each child will be working scientifically with a big focus on FUN!

There will also be some unusual observation activities...crystals which grow to 100x their size, Coke eruptions, descending aliens and more! Look out for them in classes during the week.

At the end of the week, in Friday worship, I will ask children from each class to talk about their science and complete the statement 'Science is....'. Responses and outcomes from our lessons will be shared in a book displayed in the science area so that all children are able to learn from each other.

If your child has any interesting science projects from home or they would like to have a go at a science experiment and share their results in school, please do encourage them to do so. I would be very pleased to hear all about them and see the results. They may even be put on display for everyone to enjoy and learn from. Class teachers will also allow time for sharing of activities from home during the week.

Children:
Let's investigate! Maybe you can make an egg which bounces, create a tornado in a bottle, design a game using magnets or make music with bottles and water? Who knows where your science will lead! Just make sure a parent helps you so that you stay safe. Bring your investigation or project in to school, or take some photos and share them with us. There will also be some unusual observation activities for you...crystals which grow to 100x their size, Coke eruptions, descending aliens and more! Look out for them in classes during the week.

Happy investigating! I'm excited to see what you all get up to and hope you enjoy a week of fascinating, fun science.
