National Science week

Home » News » National Science week

There has been more than a splash of colour in school this week (and a few interesting smells) as we've celebrated National Science week 2016.

All classes have taken part in observations, demonstrations and investigations! There have been lots of WOW moments, and children have shared their learning with each other brilliantly. It's been very exciting indeed.

There are a small selection of photographs here but more will be added next week, and soon a Science Week book will appear in the science area filled with photos and pupil voice. Do have a look if you get chance...

We've seen milk explosions, walking water, home-made lava lamps, a tornado in a bottle, instant snow, ooey, gooey, snotty slime, chemistry with cabbage, colour mixing and so much more.

The week has helped children to develop scientific vocabulary (polymer, density, chemical reaction, reversible change...), and also helped them to observe, predict, hypothesise, carry out full investigations, record and draw conclusions, bringing together ideas and transferring skills. I've lost count of the number of times I've heard children say 'I love science!'.

Well done to all the children who continued their science week at home, and thanks to parents for supporting this. Miss Lake would also like to thank all the staff for their hard work in making science week a really great experience across school and helping to 'maintain our children's curiosity'.

Fantastic work Wybunbury!
