So...what a couple of weeks! This weeks news is last weeks and this weeks combined after technical...
'Love is to everybody.'
Year 1 you are shining with your approach to independent writing this week. When you have been writing your Jane Goodall fact files, I have seen buckets loads of independence. We are writing longer sentences with lots of new information, and my favourite part was reading your did you know facts. You had lots to write!
This week in Numeracy, we have been solving missing number problems. We had a special visit from the FBI who asked Year One to complete a top-secret mission. A lot of animals living in a zoo in Africa had escaped and we managed to solve the mystery of how many had managed to run away. I was so proud of you all because this meant that all the animals were returned home safely the next day.
During our Interfaith activities we have taken the lead from Ethan who last week said, 'Love is to everybody.' I think he must have known that our theme for Interfaith Week — Love of God or love of the good and love of the neighbour. As we have learnt about the Jewish faith, we have thought carefully about how Jewish people show love to God. We learnt that interfaith week is all about showing we care, and linking together, so as a class we created our own hand shapes in our class colour, orange. These will all look great on our whole school display.
We made backgrounds for our patchwork animals in Art and used pastels in the style of the illustrator of Elmer. These are fantastic and will look great in our study books, well done Year One.
We have also been practising song in readiness for our singing celebration next Monday. We are looking forward to welcoming parents to the hall at 2.30pm.
See you then,
Mrs Pointon and Miss O'Shea
