Let's go fly a kite, up to the highest height!

Home » News » Let's go fly a kite!

What another fantastic week we have had reception class. Like Floyd, the boy in our book 'Stuck', we have been flying kites! We have held our own kite festival after watching the video clips of Vietnamese kite festivals held each year in January.

We have looked at a big map of the world and joined Great Britain and Vietnam together with a ribbon to show where in the world we are and where the festival takes place.
We discovered that kites need a windy day! They also need to be made of strong paper and a shorter piece of string so we don't drag them on the floor. We had to make a few repairs but goodness what fun we had running around the field getting them to fly.

We have impressed with our writing again this week, starting our sentences with capital letters, sounding out new words and ending each sentence with a full stop.

In Religious Education we have started to explore what can be learnt about Jesus from the Nativity story and have begun to learn some of our songs we will perform in our own nativity. Shhh it's a secret, don't tell mummies and daddies just yet!

Today we joined the rest of the school to stand for two minutes silence on the playground to remember all the men and women who lost their lives in the First and Second World War. You stood so beautifully, well done.

Have a lovely weekend
Kind regards
Mrs Taylor
