Let's get physical preschool!

Home » News » Let's get physical preschool!

This week at preschool we have focused on physical development.

To develop our fine motor skills we have enjoyed activities which have included threading autumn leaves, painted using different materials to grasp, grip, hold, used tweezers to pick up autumn objects, Duplo and Lego to fit together and build, jigsaw puzzles, snipping and sticking. All these activities help build our hand muscles which will help us to hold a pencil with a good grip.

To develop our gross motor skills we have enjoyed climbing trees, pushing prams, riding bikes and scooters, crawling through the tunnel, den building, balancing and enjoying the outdoor space. We ran on the big field and enjoyed the adventure trail and played followed the leader balancing on the lines on the playground.

We have been developing becoming more independent in our self care, children are encouraged to take off and put on their own shoes, put on their own waterproofs, wellies and coats — we are getting very good at this! Please continue to reinforce at home.

We have continued exploring signs of autumn and noticing the changes of colours of the leaves in our garden. Freddie and Oliver have enjoyed working out how to get the acorns of the tree, telling me "acorns are a sign of autumn". Please check your child's tray next week for our autumn home link.

This week we focused our letter sound on the letter 'l' for leaf. We learnt what sound it makes (it is quite tricky to say) and we have been practising how to form the letter.

Another busy week!
