Leaflets and lots more in Y6

Home » News » Leaflets and lots more in Y6

To begin our working week in Year 6, we looked at examples of leaflets and recapped all the features needed to make a leaflet 'fit for purpose'. Next, we brainstormed and word banked useful words and phrases so that we could write a leaflet of our own which would be an informative guide to anyone heading into Netherworld. We had to make sure we described the places they would encounter and the dangers they might face...and we tried to include suggestions as to how they could overcome the perils found here.

We revisited 'adverbials' and worked hard on this task. We even invented a new phrase..".Let's 'Year Sixify' our sentences". To do this, we included a wider range of punctuation and extended our sentences in a range of ways.

We completed our Spag and spelling tasks and also spent our afternoon being reading detectives. We read between the lines in some short pieces of writing to uncover hidden clues. Then we wrote our 'PEE' answers to those tricky inference questions. We had some 'light bulb moments' here!

We've got up-to-date with our class novel, Exodus. It is an extremely exciting part of the story. Has Caledon worked out that Mara is no ordinary member of New World society? Why does he use Candleriggs' old world name , Lily, as the emblem of the New World? Will Mara and the cyberfox be able to carry out their exciting plan?

To end today, we had a quick fire revision session. Yet again, we found a funny focus. How did trucks feature in every single sentence? It is great that we can have such funny moments whilst revising some tricky grammar!

Enjoy the rest of your week, Year 6.
