Well... Santa had to learn some new skills this year. He and his elves magically sent each class a...
Last week of half term
What an amazing week!
This week in Year 4 has been very busy indeed.
In English, we have created a scene description of Harry's journey across the Black Lake towards Hogwarts. We looked at J.K Rowling's description and also the movie scene adaptation to gain some ideas. We created a thought shower of ideas as a class and then performed a 'Slow Write' of the first paragraph. The slow write involves really slowing down and thinking about every single word choice and how the words will create impact on the reader. Year 4 were set different challenges for each of their sentences, such as: sentence one must begin with a verb, sentence two must start with an emotion etc. It was been a huge success- well done Year 4!
In maths, we focused on the areas of measurement that we had been finding tricky and then completed our end of unit challenge.
In RE we have been reflecting on how much we have learnt about Buddhism- you have done such a fantastic job and have discovered so much, well done. You have also created some lovely work which will go into our class RE book. I am also excited to see so many of you beginning Yoga club after half term, I can't wait to see the progress that you will make!
This week also included our study work theme day. We have had such an incredible time! We started the day off by reading a chapter from the book, followed by a rotation of activities, such as: table quidditch, role play, colouring and potion making- I wonder what potion was the class favourite? In the afternoon, we were joined by a member of the Keele University Quidditch team, who taught us the amazing wizard sport, well the muggle version anyway! Although it was raining, we powered through and had lots of fun. Some of us may have gotten a little muddy too!
Throughout the day, we have enjoyed the many cakes, sweets, chocolates and goodies that the children have brought into school. I want to thank everyone for the enormous effort that you have put into our theme day, from the outfits to the treats, it was been amazing. I also want to say a huge thank you to the Keele University Quidditch team, for taking the time to visit our school and deliver such a super quidditch session. Thank you.
I hope you all have wonderful break, have fun, stay safe and I look forward to seeing you all after half term.
