We look forward to welcoming you all back to Spring 2 half term tomorrow — Monday 22nd February. ...
I'll Huff and I'll Puff and I'll Blow your House Down!
The last two weeks we have based our learning around the story 'The Three Little Pigs'.
In our literacy we have focused on retelling the story, we have used props and pictures to help us. It has been lots of fun joining in with the different repeated refrains. The children do know this story very well. It has been lovely to see them re telling the story in their free play independently.
In mathematics we have been building towers galore! We have used numerals to help us build a tower to that amount and we have built towers of our own. We have used the language of tallest, shortest, highest, lowest, biggest and smallest, to name a few, to describe the length of our towers. It has been fun counting our towers too, we counted one tower 25 bricks tall!
In phonics, rainbows have focused on 'p' for pig and this week we have introduced a new letter sound 'm'. The children have amazed me with their skills and I have observed children in the writing area role playing phonics sessions and independently marking the letter sounds — wow!
In other news, we have begun preparing surprises for our families for Christmas — exciting! And... in case you didn't know we have also been busy rehearsing songs in preparation for our nativity! We are excited to take to stage next week!
I am looking forward to an exciting next few weeks at preschool as we begin our countdown to Christmas.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Tara
