A hectic week in Y5

What a hectic week we have had in year 5.

We completed our fractions unit In Maths this week by practising multiplying fractions; we took our time to be sure to follow all the steps accurately. We then used all our fraction knowledge to calculate the answers to word problems.

This week In English, we have edited our reports and moved on to creating Bronze Age trading cards using our researched facts. We decided on the score range and how the cards should be laid out.

Our podcasts are coming along well as our teams work together with Mrs Charlesworth to produce all the elements needed.

We have continued with our visits to our buddies in Preschool, although sports day, race for life and of course our school trip has meant not all visits have taken place this week. We will return to normal next week.

Our sports day and race for life were thoroughly enjoyed by all runners this week, everyone competed with great sportsmanship and entered many races. It was lovely to see so many proud, smiling faces as we cheered for our house teams. Our congratulations go to the Green House. We also helped Mrs Jenkins with race for life, being marshals and support runners for the younger children, all of year 5 were a great help.

It has been a fantastic sporting week as many year 5's represented our school in Town Sports, a real team effort with fantastic personal and team results, a well-deserved 1st place win for our wonderful school.

All enjoyed our visit today to Wybunbury Moss, we spent the morning looking at the changes to the Moss and compared them to our first visit back in October. As we were with Natural England, we were able to walk through the Moss and go into areas that are not open to the public. We bounced on the Moss and spotted many wild flowers. We then spent our afternoon working on our logbooks, bringing them up to date and getting them ready to show to Jenni.

We have had an extremely busy week with all the sporting activities that have taken place and our educational visit to the Moss. I have not set any new homework as I know how tiring this week has been, please encourage your child to have all outstanding homework completed by Friday 1st July.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Mrs Burns.
