What another very busy week we have had! In English this week we have been using our class story...
A hectic week in Y5
We have been working hard in Y5 this week and what great things we have achieved together.
In Maths we continued to build our long multiplication skills and now we have moved on to recording division using a formal method. We have used the bus stop method to investigate different ways of recording our remainders. We will finish this investigation off next week and then complete our multiplication and division assessment.
In English this week, we have completed our diary entries, peer marked them, edited them and now we are preparing to publish them in our study work books. We will be starting a new unit of English next week.
During book club we have read a recount of events describing the expedition of Ernest Shackleton. This text has fit well with our diary writing and we have carefully ordered the key events.
This week we have focused our spelling lessons on the correct use of apostrophes and adding plurals.
We continued our Geography unit by looking at North America in more detail. Our focus has been on the Great Lakes and how they were formed. We have begun to discuss and answer questions whilst watching a BBC documentary. We will continue with this unit next week.
We also continued our Science unit this week, focusing on the physics strand of Forces. We have created our own science enquiry questions, decided on our own experiments (using paper spinners) and recorded our own findings. We have had great fun changing different factors; height, shape, weight and size. Our classroom was filled with sensible behaviour and great enthusiasm. Well done.
How did God show his love for humanity through Jesus? A question we asked ourselves in RE this week. We have begun this unit by looking into the meaning of different words from the Bible. This created great discussion and we will continue with our question next week.
We continued with our coding unit in computing this week. We have created different algorithms with different backgrounds ready to run next week.
We completed our last French lesson on Monday, thank you to Mr Smith from Shavington High School. We have had fun whilst learning and have continued to speak French each day as we take our register.
We have also taken part in PE and had our last swimming lesson (as the pool is closing for a short while) for now.
What a hectic week we have had, I hope you have a fantastic weekend.
