Harvest Celebrations

Home » News » Harvest Celebrations

What a wonderful week we have had celebrating Harvest. You have looked at the season of Autumn and looked for signs, in our garden and the school grounds, of changes in the natural world around you.

You have looked at which foods are harvested at this time of the year and where they are grown.
We discussed how people like to say thank you at harvest time. You thought we should say thank you to the farmers for growing food and to the truck drivers for delivering it to our supermarkets. We explored that some people like to say thank you to God and wondered why that would be. One answer was that God created the world and so we should say thank you!

You harvested the carrots and sweetcorn from our garden and picked the remainder of the apples from the orchard. My favourite moment was when I heard one of you shout excitedly
"Look! look! I can't believe it, my very own carrot!"

We invited mums and dads and grandparents to join us for messy church today and made them a yummy cake for snack time. You were very excited to sing 'Big Red Combine Harvester' (On a real stage!) to your grown ups. I hope they had as much fun watching as we did performing!

Thank you all for sharing my special 5 + 0 birthday today and singing to me, it was so lovely.
Have a lovely weekend
Mrs Taylor
