Great British Bake off

Home » News » Great British Bake off

Wow! What a week!

We have been terribly busy this week with all of our learning. We started off our week with a cooking morning on Monday. This was a great surprise for the children who didn't know what we were going to be up to until they entered the classroom. We began by preparing both ourselves and our work stations for baking. It's one way to get the children cleaning! Then we worked in small groups to measure, combine and mix our ingredients to form a dough. Next, we had to create mini dough balls out of our mixture. It was rather sticky! We used the mini oven in our classroom to bake a batch of cookies and the rest we sent down to the kitchens to be cooked. The smell in the classroom was amazing! And after all our hard work we, of course, got to enjoy our amazing creations. Delicious!

As well as being busy chefs, we have been budding writers and have finished our Harry Potter themed stories. We have also haven been very lucky to have parents join us for our maths learn along this week; it has been great to see so many parents and to have had such positive feedback.

In RE this week we have been looking at different paintings which reflect the crucifixion of Christ. We talked about the symbols and images that were in these pictures and what they meant. We all thought carefully about our personal reactions to these, respecting everyone's opinions. After looking at a range of artwork, the children decided to create their own artwork based upon what they felt was important about this event and what they think gave a true reflection of what happened using the symbols and images they had learnt about previously.

We have also had our last practice for our brass concert! The children have come such a long way- well done- I'm sure everyone is excited for your concert on Tuesday.

Have a great weekend, we hope to see lots of parents at our Easter Service on Wednesday afternoon.
