Gotta crawl, gotta crawl, to the Ugly Bug Ball

Home » News » Gotta crawl, gotta crawl

Come on let's crawl
Gotta crawl, gotta crawl
To the ugly bug ball
To the ball, to the ball
And a happy time we'll have there
One and all
At the ugly bug ball

What a fantastic morning we have had Reception, as we have celebrated International Dance Day by learning different minibeast dances. There were some very convincing caterpillars transforming into beautiful, delicate butterflies and our new favourite song has become 'The ants go marching two by two hurrah, hurrah!'

In our learning this week we have focused on the story of The Bad Tempered Ladybird, making some realistic clay ladybirds which we have painted to help with our doubling number work.

In literacy we have made some minibeast information cards, remembering to spell our tricky words carefully, especially the word 'they'.

With Mrs Swan, in PE, we have been practicing our throwing and catching using targets. We had to decide whether we needed an under arm throw or an over arm throw to get our bean bags where we wanted them to go. Our throwing and catching is getting really good. I think we may be ready to be in the school 'Rounders' team!

Our classroom has come alive with minibeasts, from our wonderful Georgia O' Keefe inspired art to the wonderfully created junk model insects made at home. A huge thank you to mums and dads for helping with these. We really like our Incy Wincy spider that bounces down from the ceiling to scare any unsuspecting visitors to our class!

Have a wonderful weekend
Mrs Taylor
