Dinosaur Detectives

Home » News » Reception News

On Wednesday there was something very unusual in our garden....we discovered that they were giant eggs. These eggs made us wonder what had been in our garden. The eggs were so large that they had to be from dragons or dinosaurs. The posters we wrote gave everyone an instruction 'Do not touch.'

Over the course of the week it became clear that they were dinosaur eggs and they have really got us excited about sharing all our dinosaur facts. We read the Egg story which describes a boy looking after his egg, just like we have. We have all started to be great dinosaur detectives...we have spotted footprints and clues all over our garden.

In Numeracy our focus has been linked to learning about doubles and finding out how to find answers to questions. We have voted on which is our favourite character from the Gingerbread story and which part of the Gingerbread's body we ate first.

Our ideas linked to Can chalk talk have inspired us to be artists and scientists. It has been wonderful to see children make their own chalk paint and mix the chalk with vinegar and baking soda. We now have a display in the classroom with all our responses on.

In PE we have developed our dance moves to one of our favourite songs, happy! We are looking forward to learning more of the dance next week.

See you on Monday Dinosaur Detectives!
