A Charming Week in Reception

Home » News » A Charming Week in Reception

This week we have been charming each other with our worm facts. We have learnt all about why worms are important to us. In class we explored the story Super Worm, created worms, and skipped around the garden like Super Worm did in the story. The story Yucky Worms gave us an opportunity to decide if we thought worms were yucky like the girl in the story. We explained our answers carefully to think about why worms help us.

In PE we developed our throwing skills alongside our team listening skills to take part in lots of throwing activities. We also completed our first bean bag race practise ready for Sports Day. The team approach to help and encourage each other was great to see.

On Friday we took part in our Worm Charming Competition with our Year 6 buddies. We joined together to measure the plot, take part in all sorts of worm charming techniques, and the most overwhelming thing was everyone's commitment to finding a worm. A huge well done for your perseverance and imagination in coming up with interesting techniques. We were encouraging each other with words like 'try your best', and 'it's not impossible.' It was so much fun that we carried on our competition in the Reception garden in the afternoon.

Our caterpillars have now turned into cocoons and have been transferred to our butterfly nets. I can't wait to see what has happened to them over the weekend.

2 more sleeps until our visit on Tuesday and we have our Ugly Bug ball to look forward to on Friday. It is set to be an exciting week!
