This week in Year 3...

We've worked on diary writing in English, pretending to be Omri on his birthday. We remembered all the features a diary needs and wrote well in the first person and past tense. It was fun writing in character and we showed just how well we know the story of The Indian in the Cupboard as we completed this task. We'll continue with diary writing next week, writing the next day's events...when the cupboard works its magic and Little Bull comes to life!

In maths, we've continued work on measurement and had great fun trying to work out amounts of liquid as we worked practically. Some of us have mastered methods for multiplication and division and are ready for our assessment tasks on Monday. Others have continued to build on skills to add 9, 19 and more.

Our afternoons have given us time to complete more study work, and today, we worked with Mrs P on aspects of the Islamic faith. We completed geometric designs this afternoon too. We're almost ready to begin our Design and Technology project to build Native American Indian homes...and are really keen to make a start.

Harvey has been busy at home, and today he shared his fantastic Totem Pole with us. He and his nanna have both been awarded Head Teacher's awards for their hard work. It is great to know that children are engaged and continuing their learning at home. Great job Harvey!

Miss Lake would like to say an extra special thank you to year 3 this week. It's a bit tricky teaching with no voice but the children were very kind and helped out in every way they could!

Have a lovely sunny weekend. If this weather continues, we'll be able to start our science project all about light and shadows soon too. :-)
